The architectures of Sovereign Cognition.

Indwel treats institutional cognition as a complete operating system. Information, authority, durable Work, cognition and action, and Settlement remain distinct responsibilities while operating as one governed act.

One system. Five architectural responsibilities.

The model is one contributor inside a larger system. The architecture preserves the boundaries that ordinary AI stacks tend to compress into prompts, retrieval, agent permissions, and logs.

Information

Sources preserve identity, provenance, permissions, custody, freshness, and use boundaries. Collections add governed structure, selectors, membership, and retrieval behavior.

Authority

Identity, roles, Cognitive Contracts, budgets, approvals, and capability boundaries determine what cognition may rely on, decide, and cause.

Work

Conversation is the exchange surface. Work is the durable governed object that carries objectives, Evidence, Memory, progress, obligations, and Follow-through.

Cognition and action

Models, governed agents, deterministic services, tools, and people contribute inside explicit authority. Capability never becomes authority merely because it exists.

Settlement

Observation, Receipts, the Log, and Settlement preserve the durable consequence of cognition and action—what happened, what changed, and what remains unresolved.

Indwel OS

Indwel OS realizes these responsibilities as one enterprise operating system across Unity, Platform, information, cognition, authority, action, continuity, and proof.

The boundaries are the architecture.

Indwel does not call every useful control governance. Each boundary has a different job, and none substitutes for another.

  1. Sources are not Evidence.

Acquisition and custody establish what material is available. Evidence admission determines what the Work is actually allowed to rely on.

  2. Retrieval is not judgment.

Search and deterministic selection find candidate material. Cognitive authority determines what may be inferred, decided, or acted upon.

  3. Capability is not permission.

A model, agent, tool, or connector can exist without being authorized for a particular Work, person, Source, or action.

  4. Conversation is not Work.

The exchange can end while the objective, obligations, Memory, Scheduled Work, Evidence, and Settlement continue.

  5. An answer is not Settlement.

Settlement records durable proof-backed consequence after cognition meets action, observation, and outcome.

The architecture is what lets intelligence change without moving institutional authority.

Models, providers, tools, people, and execution faculties can change across the life of the Work. The governing object, its authority, its admitted Evidence, and its durable consequence remain anchored to the institution.
